I'm Ansel. Yep, named after the one and only Ansel Adams. My mom put a camera in my hand at 3, and it never left. She knew exactly what she was doing.
Growing up, I was always making something — bad paintings, writing, tagging walls in and out of my house for years. Creating is the only thing that's ever fully made sense to me. I'm not tryna spend my days looking at spreadsheets (no shade if that's your thing).
Photography took over in my early teens, right around when I needed somewhere to put everything. It was therapeutic in a way I can only explain through finding beauty. No matter what was going on behind the scenes, I could hit the streets and find something undeniably beautiful — proof there was more to life than what I was personally going through.
That's still what I'm chasing: beauty in the in-between, the juxtaposition of things that shouldn't work together but do. It's something I'll never stop searching for.
Over a decade in, I've shot whatever I wanted — solo adventures, sidequests with friends, weddings, headshots, graduations — all through my frame of reference, and however I was feeling in the moment.
